REFORESTATION AND TRAIL MAINTENANCE BY MARGARIDA  ALHO FROM SWITZERLAND

After longing some months to finally get to Moshi, here I am with YAAPHA, which was started by Peter Bundala, with his background as a teacher, a carpenter, studies in development, cooperation and environmental issues and with knowledge in farming and certainly much more. He and his indispensable friends and helpers catched me right away with their open spoken and hands on way.

Moshi is a great place for tourists, I guess they don’t miss anything here and the locals too, do have an environment that can offer most anything. Nevertheless, big problems pop up when it comes to the whole picture. HIV finds its way through all layers of all these people, no matter if tourist, mother, father, adolescent and last but not least the smallest and most vulnerable of our communities, the children. Supporting poles become their grandmothers, who often have to take over the role of the parents, once their gone. When travelling, most people don’t want to hear about problems – it’ their holiday, so what! – but only by being open to the facts at the place you’re visiting, you will experience the real people of the place you’re at. Only then you will start to understand and when diving in, you will have the chance to see, feel and live the natural friendliness of locals, laugh with them, talk and exchange knowledge, interests and experiences.

During their volunteer trip in Tanzania they were teaching English program. They went to PASUA school, in Moshi town. We met these amazing children that are in need of all the help we can provide. ( Estefi Suarez, Andrea Masana and Maria Lourdes )

Most of the children in this video do not receive a daily meal. However, they are always smiling and trying their best to succeed at school.

You can help sponsor a child by only donating 50 US dlls. You would be providing a child with a daily meal, school supplies, shoes, and their school tuition. LINK: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=3LN5RBWRYS37W

There is also a general fund where you can donate. The fund is for buying food for the school, so every child receives at least their lunch. LINK: https://www.youcaring.com/pasuaprimaryschoolpupils-865377

COMPUTER  DATABASE AND NETWORKING BY TRIPP FROM UNITED STATES

Major milestone for Pasua. Tripp Kuehnis helped this little school take a leap into the future by getting these donated computers to speak to one another. Now teachers can share files and print from any computer. He built a new excel doc that allows students to enter test results and be graded immediately. This should save teachers hours of grading time! Teachers so grateful. Future goal for Pasua... internet access.

FIRST DAY FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS FROM U.S.A.

A little over two weeks ago, a very energetic family of seven (!!) arrived to volunteer their time and skills for Yaapha Tanzania. During their stay, their efforts and accomplishments were incredible!
From working on the organization's newsletter, to setting up a database for the community's primary school, to teaching English and sports, to conducting community outreach and a women's short business training program...it is truly amazing to see the power and impact this family has brought with them

GIVING DAY.

#Thank you, Peter and YAAPHA, for having us and allowing us to be ethical, traveling volunteers. Thank you too to Givingway which allowed us to find you!

#Delivered food to the poorest of the poor today. Many are grandparents who raise young grandchildren, their own child no longer living due to AIDS. Others live with HIV/AIDS themselves. YAAPHA calls them "living with hope". Love that! I We donated a mere $35 which along with another $20 donated will feed 6 families for a week or more. It was an honor to be invited into each home. More amazing pictures forthcoming. Luca carried the first bag. He returned to the car full of tears. His heart was overwhelmed. Grateful to be able to make a small positive contribution.

#More pictures of Luca and family donating and delivering food.

GOOD PARTNERSHIP AND RELATIONSHIP.

Thank you to Peter from Youth In Action Against Poverty And HIV/AIDS for the opportunity. Luca was very excited to help his Moshi class write their pen pal letters to his home school.

FOOTBALL TEAM   ( EQUIPMENT DONATIONS.)

Kyleigh took the lead in organizing our donations to the football team. They were immediately put to work. Can you believe that the football team had only one ball for all practices and games? They had enough spirit to carry them anywhere! Thank you again for allowing Luca and Kyleigh Kuehnis to play in your last game!

GARDENING AND CLEANLINESS

Our volunteers working with pupils on gardening and cleanliness.

OUTREACH  PROGRAM BY SUZANNE FROM SCOTLAND

Suzanne Spencer have been working at the Moshi office for 3 weeks now and have been involved with various groups during this period.

The majority of groups are in need of funding to explore their ideas and establish projects. As a lot of the youth have nothing to do and no opportunities, I defiantly feel that a lot of the older youth would benefit from vocational training and financial support to achieve skills. Then they could seek employment and have choices in their lives.

The people living with hope need long term support on basic level, such as health insurance, food and clothing. We have been assessing the family groups individual needs and making records have been advised there are 100 families in need.  I feel a food bank is needed urgently for the housebound and those in times of crisis.

GOOD MOMENT AT PASUA PRIMARY SCHOOL

We were invited to a farewell part for a Retired School Teacher (Theresia Msaki) and also she was teaching Swahili Class to L7VE .
